Responsibilities:
- Innovative software engineer with broad, in-depth database architecture, design and analysis experience to support the development of Vehicle Health Management Solutions that track and interpret aircraft fault data.
- Databases to be developed include both on-board (semi-realtime to realtime) and off-board engineering analytical systems.
- Some of these databases will be part of an aircraft avionics system, so experience with large scale real-time systems is desired.
- Travel to meet teammates in Seattle and Bangalore, India may be required. Estimate 2-4 trips per year to Seattle and 1-2 trips per year to Bangalore
Qualifications:
- Required – advanced skill/experiences in Database design and search strategies
- Preferred – intermediate skill in creating and managing databases, as well as database security and current database technology.
- Experience in the entire life-cycle of database usage, including high-performance databases, complex data management and retrieval as well as data persistence alternatives to the standard relational database system model (e.g., “No-SQL”).
- Able to compare design alternatives and an understanding of life cycle performance optimization and tuning issues are key capabilities we are seeking.
- Knowledge of modern software development processes (e.g. agile) is desired.
- Experience with a geographically dispersed development team is desired.
- Experience analyzing the "state-of-the-art" and providing recommendations to database roadmap activities is desired.
- Experience with C++ and/or Java is desired.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience.
- Degree from ABET accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
