Seeking a controller for a combined $100MM commercial construction and real estate investment company based in the Des Moines metro. This position reports directly to the owner/CEO. Benefits plus annual bonus. Seeking an individual who can grow with the role as this company grows.

Principal Duties:

• Manage financial risk, financial planning, record keeping and financial reporting for multiple entities
• Prepare interim and year-end financial statements
• Prepare interim and year-end financial statements for 8-12 development and real estate holding companies
• Oversee direct report accounting staff of 3-5 people
• Prepare and track monthly billings and accounts receivable
• Prepare and track month-end and annual profit projections on job and company level
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and record month-end and year-end adjusting entries
• Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations
• Manage fixed asset schedules and track current year additions and deletions
• Oversee annual financial audit procedures and provide tax information to preparers
• Create annual overhead budgets and manage general overhead expenses
• Research and implement changes to GAAP accounting standards and tax requirements
• Assess company risk and implement appropriate risk strategies and insurance policies
• Oversee human resources, employee benefits, employee profit sharing, and related items
• Oversee general office management and office contracts or service agreements
• Prepare cost-to-complete reports
• Familiarity for Sage Timberline a plus.
• Other tasks as assigned or required based on business need

Requirments:

• Demonstrated progressive career history in accounting
• Construction experience a major plus
• CPA preferred
