Position Title: Training Specialist

Position Type: Full Time, Hourly (Hybrid after training period)

Hourly Rate: $26.00/hour

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Contract Duration: 9 months with the possibility of extension

Additional Details: Occasional overtime required; local travel required; monthly cell phone stipend provided

 

 

Function:

Develops, implements, and monitors training materials for the client’s support employees and individuals served in the client’s SWTCIE (Subminimum Wage to Competitive Integrated Employment) program. Provides training support and oversight to support the hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of InVEST (Integrated Vocational Engagement & Support Team) project participants and associated staff and employers. Oversees ongoing project participant professional development with internal and external entities. Ensures training compliance. Reports to the client’s Compliance Training Manager. In the absence of the Compliance Training Manager, reports directly to the Vice President of Compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the achievement of an individual's personal outcomes, success, and inclusion in the community.
  2. Adheres to the client’s policies, procedures, mission, and core values.
  3. Orients/trains students, youth, and adults with disabilities contemplating, actively seeking, or engaged in subminimum wage employment who seek to obtain competitive integrated employment (CIE).
  4. Develops an InVEST Participant Skills Building Curriculum that outlines education for designated SWTCIE employers and project participants. Curriculum includes, but is not limited to:
    • Disability Awareness
    • Accessibility
    • Charting the Lifecourse
    • Self-advocacy
    • Self-determination
    • Handling conflict
    • Community integrated experience
  5. Develops, implements, and monitors training materials for client support employees involved in supporting SWTCIE project participants as mandated by government regulations and funder standards, program operations, and/or agency initiatives.
  6. Delivers onsite training support as needed to meet the needs of designated employers (DEs) and support the hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of InVEST project participants.
  7. Develops internal and external partnerships with various educational and/or professional entities that build skills for a person with a disability; particularly with Integrated Resource Teams (IRT).
  8. Oversees and conducts, as needed, monthly professional development series for all InVEST project participants.
  9. Provides guidance and learning accommodations to client support employees and the individuals served, as needed.
  10. Serves as an advocate and liaison for the individuals served by the client.
  11. Reviews all training report forms and competency exams to evaluate or establish competency and understanding of training materials.
  12. Tracks and ensures personnel meet all regulatory, agency, program, and credentialing training requirements prior to service delivery and throughout employment.
  13. Conducts ongoing and random record reviews to ensure compliance. Reports non-compliance in a timely manner.
  14. Prepares and submits comprehensive reports on training and compliance to management and external audit teams.
  15. Collaborates with the Training & Compliance Departments to conduct surveys identifying training needs based on current processes, changes, and other factors.
  16. Monitors and participates in the distribution of training through the client’s learning management system and/or other platforms.
  17. Informs program management of personnel and training requirements.
  18. Maintains knowledge of integrated resource teams, community integrated employment, adult learning theories, best practices, instructional design, and implements performance action steps as needed.
  19. Maintains knowledge of current county/state/federal regulations, standards, and/or licensing applicable to all client support employees.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, human services, social science, or related field required.
  • At least 2 years of experience with students, youth, and/or adults with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or mental health disabilities required.
  • Experience using methods of Discovery, Customized Employment, Systematic Instruction, and Supported Employment preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with presentation tools, word processing, and database software.
  • Must meet Act 33, Act 34, and FBI clearance requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and properly insured vehicle available for daily use.

    • Standard PTO package: 80 hours/annual, 40 hours received Jan 1, 40 hours received Jul 1, and prorated based on hire date.
    • PTO cannot be used until completion of a 90-day introductory period.
    • PTO does NOT rollover to following year – “use or lose.”

  • 401(k) plan available (discretionary employer match based on company profitability)
  • Eligibility: One-year waiting period with 1,000 service hours required
