We are seeking a Safety Consultant to support the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) in Harrisburg, PA. This role is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who is passionate about building strong safety cultures, providing training, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the DGS action plan to set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and track task completion.

• Develop and deliver health and safety trainings (in-person or via webinar), creating or adapting training materials as needed.

• Conduct assessments and audits in alignment with the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP) and agency policies, including formal AIPP reviews.

• Analyze safety data, prepare technical reports, and provide actionable recommendations to improve workplace safety.

• Support injury/illness prevention, industrial hygiene efforts, and overall compliance with AIPP standards.

• Work independently to provide on-site health and safety support to the agency.

• Adapt to client needs, building strong relationships through effective communication, customer service, and follow-up.

• Collaborate with employees and management at all levels to strengthen safety culture.

• Travel to assigned worksites as required.

Qualifications

Required:

• AIPP qualification with at least two years of occupational safety experience
  OR
  at least two years of occupational safety experience while actively working toward an AIPP qualification (see:
  Accident and Illness Prevention Service Provider Qualifications | PA Department of Labor and Industry).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

• Strong background in occupational safety, accident/illness prevention, or industrial hygiene.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Experience collaborating with government agencies or large organizations.
