Position Description

An IoT Consultant will perform as an individual contributor, customer facing and highly valued team member of a fast-paced customer focused team launching new SaaS solution in the food chain marketplace. The products enables tracking, tracing, and data analytics of food products at the serialized item level from origin to destination, both inside and outside the four walls of organizations. The IoT Consultant will be a direct hire working remotely, independently and under general supervision.

The IoT consultant’s primary role will be to understand the product, assess client operations to develop and deliver IoT/SaaS solutions for products and services. The IoT Consultant will analyze prospects’ business needs and design solutions, as an IoT hardware and infrastructure subject matter expert for product and implementation. Client engagements will focus on the implementation of SaaS solutions (integrating software, hardware, process, and technologies) in multiple food related supply chain segments from farm to fork. Activities include but are not limited to identifying customer issues, problem-structuring, business case development, optimizing client processes, solution architecture, solution implementation, coordination with internal and external experts and change management.

Key Responsibilities

• Success in this role will be based on meeting/exceeding customer expectations and driving the development of the platform.

• Provide technical and field expertise in the areas of IoT hardware devices, RFID (active and passive), sensors and related software solutions.

• Conduct and/or oversee site assessments, RFID site surveys, operations process and technology reviews, feasibility assessments etc. in client environments identifying and documenting “as is” and “future state” options with solutions.

• Develop client relations and work towards becoming a highly trusted advisor.

• Collaborate with third-party field installation contractors, customer facility managers to install IoT infrastructure as required.

• Contribute to the development of IoT/hardware platform roadmap.

• Support business development efforts in expanding business.

• Provide feedback to Product Management and Product Development teams to refine product features and/or develop new product capabilities.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

 

• Bachelor’s Degree is required, Business, Engineering, or technical disciplines with master’s degree preferred.

• 5+ years of prior experience in implementing IoT, RFID (UHF), sensors is required.

• Knowledge of specific integrated chips and options offered by different chip manufacturers is a plus.

• Fluent in AIDC technologies including but not limited to UHF Passive (RAIN) RFID, NFC, Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), UWB and QR/barcodes.

• Fluent in RAIN Gen2V2 RFID standards, concepts, and protocols.

• Experience with GS1 Standards such as EPC, GTIN, SSCC, GLN, GRAI, GIAI is a plus.

• Strong understanding of Sensor based technologies related to supply chain track and trace applications

• Awareness of emerging technologies such as LoRaWAN, industry trends, etc.

• Excellent working knowledge of firmware management, device management, software/hardware interactions and ability to troubleshoot issues.

• Software basics for functionality, demonstrations, and the vision to help the dev team create the right applications.

• In-depth experience delivering solutions in at least two sectors/verticals such as retail, industrial, logistics etc.

• Excellent client interaction skills, collaborative work style, and strong interpersonal and team skills.

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio) to accomplish daily business activities and facilitate communications.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, presentation, and documentation skills required.

• Experience in developing technical reference documentation for project work plans, guidelines, standards, procedures, and processes that meet the needs of the target audience.

• Ability to think globally and discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues. Ability to respect and appreciate different personality styles, thinking, backgrounds, and cultures.

• Strong understanding of process improvement principles such as lean/six sigma/agile/TPM.

Hardware:

o Fluent using RAIN RFID fixed, overhead array and mobile readers such as and not limited to Impinj and Zebra.

Strong knowledge in RFID antennas including linear, circular and wave antennas.

o Ability to work with command line, Putty & tools such as Node-RED.

• Software

o Strong understanding of OEM partners software products and Software Development Kits (SDK’s) enabling integration of hardware the platform.

o Ability to install and configure partner software products upon completion of training.

o Strong knowledge in communication protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, Kafka, Rest API’s, etc.

• Field Services

o Ability to perform RFID site surveys.

o Ability install and deploy hardware solutions for internal testing, customer Proof of Concepts, Pilots, and Production deployments.

o Ability to test and configure RFID infrastructure.

o Post implementation hardware support and troubleshooting.

• Ability to educate internal resources and customers on RFID/IoT technologies and solutions
