Tool and Die Journeyman Duties

  • Performs all in-house die polishing and bench work
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all tools. Keeps a thorough and accurate history on each tool
  • Performs mold cleaning, lubrication, and proper mold identification to the tooling standards
  • Maintains parting line, quality and surface polish
  • Maintains and tracks all mold components
  • Maintains inventory stock of tool room supplies and mold components
  • Works with scheduling and manufacturing on time tables of job completion for production startup time
  • Gives daily reports and work time log on all work performed
  • Performs electrical repairs on tools, such as wiring hot runners and repairing limit switches
  • Completes required hydraulic repairs on tools
  • Performs other tasks assigned by designated supervisor

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of experience in the tool repair field or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and ability to read blue prints
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics
  • Understanding of trim presses and ring presses
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge and trouble shooting skills in plastic injection molding tools
  • Willingness to take a specific set course in plastics
  • Must be proficient in Tungsten Inert Gas (T.I.G.) Welding
  • Must have knowledge of tooling steels
  • Obtain hi-lo license and operate hi-lo safely and knowledge of operating a crane
