Tool and Die Journeyman Duties
- Performs all in-house die polishing and bench work
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all tools. Keeps a thorough and accurate history on each tool
- Performs mold cleaning, lubrication, and proper mold identification to the tooling standards
- Maintains parting line, quality and surface polish
- Maintains and tracks all mold components
- Maintains inventory stock of tool room supplies and mold components
- Works with scheduling and manufacturing on time tables of job completion for production startup time
- Gives daily reports and work time log on all work performed
- Performs electrical repairs on tools, such as wiring hot runners and repairing limit switches
- Completes required hydraulic repairs on tools
- Performs other tasks assigned by designated supervisor
Qualifications
- Eight or more years of experience in the tool repair field or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and ability to read blue prints
- Working knowledge of pneumatics
- Understanding of trim presses and ring presses
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge and trouble shooting skills in plastic injection molding tools
- Willingness to take a specific set course in plastics
- Must be proficient in Tungsten Inert Gas (T.I.G.) Welding
- Must have knowledge of tooling steels
- Obtain hi-lo license and operate hi-lo safely and knowledge of operating a crane
