Patent Paralegal – San Diego, CA (Carmel Valley)


The San Diego Office of a national law firm is seeking a Paralegal to support our Patent Prosecution practice group.

Job responsibilities include providing paralegal services to assist attorneys and clients in all phases of the patent prosecution process including: preparing and filing all patent applications and various prosecution documents via the electronic filing system (EFS-Web); communication with clients; drafting client reporting letters; and maintaining a docket case load of over 300+ cases.

Must have strong knowledge of USPTO rules and requirements and maintaining U.S. Patent Prosecution case files.

Knowledge of international procedures and requirements experience a plus.

We are searching for a self-starter with problem solving abilities and the following attributes: excellent communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, works well under pressure, ability to multitask and prioritize, works well both independently and as a team member, and has the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Windows, Excel and Outlook. Excellent grammar, proofreading, and English composition skills is also essential.


Requires a BA or Paralegal Certificate (ABA rated) and a minimum 2-7 years (2-20 years) of recent experience working as a patent prosecution secretary or paralegal within a professional environment, law firm preferred.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, salary is flexible depending on the candidate (they told us to send over candidates with salary expectations)
