Litigation Paralegal – Seattle, WA

The premier environmental law firm, is looking for a litigation Paralegal to support the Firm’s attorneys primarily in its Seattle, WA, office. We seek a career-oriented individual with experience in supporting attorneys in a busy litigation practice group. Strong project management, research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communications skills are required for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage electronic and paper discovery
  2. Project management (i.e., managing to deliverables and milestones: on time and within budget, meeting business and client needs)
  3. Organize and index case files
  4. Investigate facts, research law, and prepare documents as directed by attorneys
  5. Review legal documents and conduct factual analysis
  6. Summarize legal documents and data
  7. Create privilege logs
  8. Perform wide variety of research and data compilation
  9. Assist in preparing reports, affidavits, correspondences, declarations and complaints

    10.Proofread, check accuracy of quotes and cite formats in legal documents

    11.Act as liaison with court clerks

    12.Review local court rules and identify filing requirements

    13.Conduct electronic and paper filing with court

    14.Determine event deadlines and calendar same

    15.Assist attorney in preparation for depositions

    16.Attend depositions; Prepare deposition digests

    17.Assist attorneys in mediations, arbitrations or other forms of ADR

    18.Assist attorneys at trial

    19.Communicate with witnesses and experts

    20.Enter billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner

    21.Other duties as assigned such as marketing, RFP response, practice team, presentation and event support and assist library, conflicts and other miscellaneous duties

  10. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  11. Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience
  12. Familiarity with major ediscovery platforms such as CasePoint, Relativity
  13. Knowledge of electronic filings (state and federal), as well as court rules and procedures, litigation terminology and documentation
  14. Computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  16. Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  17. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  18. Flexibility to work late and travel (locally and nationally) as needed
  19. Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages and books weighing up to 30 pounds, and ability to retrieve objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high and replace same

    10.Paralegal certificate a plus

    11.Project management certificate a plus

     

    Compensation will be commensurate with experience, salary is flexible depending on the candidate (they told us to send over candidates with salary expectations)
