Patent Secretary – Costa Mesa, CA

Description: Major law firm is currently has a great opportunity for an experienced Patent Prosecution Secretary in our Orange County office. The Patent Prosecution Secretary must have excellent skills, 3+ years of legal secretarial experience with a strong knowledge of US patent prosecution (Foreign patent prosecution skills a plus). This position will be responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and various prosecution documents via the electronic filing system, communication with clients, drafting client reporting letters and maintaining and reviewing attorney dockets. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of USPTO rules and requirements and understand how to maintain U.S. Patent Prosecution case files. Candidates must also have strong proofreading, spelling and grammar skills. A positive attitude and flexibility are key to this position!

Other Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and various legal software applications
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, organized and have great follow through skills
  • Must be able to coordinate complex scheduling for multiple individuals.
  • Must be able to work under pressure while managing multiple deadlines/priorities
  • Accuracy, speed and professionalism a must
  • Has the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be skilled at typing correspondence and pleadings for attorneys
  • Strong interpersonal skills
