Senior Account Supervisor

The Senior Account Supervisor adds creative perspective and strategic input on multiple client programs, typically managing 4-7 accounts. Supports senior management in development of strategic, creative and leverages strategy and innovative programming for clients. The SAS has a full understanding of the client needs, objectives and KPIs and applies project management, programming, budgeting, staff leadership and management skills to assignments. Creates ideas and processes to manage national PR programs. Builds excellent client rapport and ensures client satisfaction. Manages a team of professional junior staff and takes the responsibility for the team’s success on assigned projects.

 

Media | Influencer Relations

  • Conducts outreach to top-tier print, broadcast and online media

  • Secures top-tier editor appointments for clients in brand-hosted settings as well as industry events

  • Secures at least 3-5 pieces of coverage a month, all tier 1 media and a minimum of 1 placement a month for each assigned vertical category per client

  • Manages media and influencer relations program to ensure success;

  • Oversees development of key performance indicators (KPI’s) and metrics; sets process in place with client and team

  • Develops influencer strategies and oversees program execution

  • Identifies trends, new publications, and new mediums

Account Management

  • Works with Director or VP on budget management (retainer fee budget + incremental budget|Pre-pays)

  • Acts as a senior strategic partner who challenges clients with smart thinking and offers strategic guidance and client counsel and ensures accounts are moving forward with results-driven focus

  • Helps sets realistic expectations with clients as part of day-to-day communications and dialogue

  • Attends regular in-person meetings and fields client requests

  • Supports AS to finalize client call agendas and participates in regular status calls; delegates sections to appropriate team members and prepares team prior to client interactions

  • Facilitates creative brainstorm sessions and assists in the development of annual plans, product and service launch campaigns, etc.

  • Identifies client goals, priorities and target audiences; ensures that all programs and resultant work are aligned with defined goals with timelines and plans being followed

  • Identifies relevant sponsorship/event/promotion opportunities

  • Acts as a liaison with other agency partners

  • Identifies and addresses issues before they become problems with clients (and staff)

Team Management | Mentoring

  • Assists managers with making decisions to ensure team progress by proactively communicating with other senior managers as to what you and the team need in order to be successful and takes the initiative to provide status updates and next steps

  • Works with Account Supervisor, Director, and|or VP to hold individual team members accountable for hitting coverage goals. Helps team develop story angles.

  • Communicates priorities on a daily and weekly basis and oversees the workflow of junior staff, ensures reports are submitted on time and deadlines are met

  • Regularly monitors and manages team’s billed hours for respective clients against monthly retainers

  • Acts as a sounding board for junior staff; addresses any issues or concerns

  • Helps team process and improve their writing and presentation skills

Writing | Editing

  • Reviews and edits junior staff’s monthly and quarterly activity and media coverage reports, press releases, pitch letters and communication materials and provides to clients

    • Contributes to the development of client presentations

    • Drafts client ready communications (may be reviewed by senior team member prior to distributing to client

    Events | Campaigns Management

    • Drafts event and launch strategy documents

    • Manages end to end events execution and special campaigns and ensures all logistics are completed to the client standards

    • Identifies staffing requirements and is point of contact for event suppliers

    • Oversees event budgets and provides regular updates to client on event requirements

    New Business

    • Participates in new business meetings

    • Assists Director and VP with creative ideas for new business proposals

    • Attends and presents in new business presentations

    Agency Contributions

    • Participates in agency’s development programs

    • Contributes positively to the agency culture, atmosphere and values and exudes a positive outlook on his/her team

    • Establishes professional and respectful relationships with staff

    • Monitors and records time in agency’s system

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree (communications, liberal arts, business or marketing focus preferred)

    Experience

    • Six to eight years of relevant PR experience

    • Successful track record of developing integrated public relations programs

    • Experience in influencer marketing and social media

    • Experience managing a team and multiple client accounts

    Note: Differentiation between AS and SAS levels is based on progressive years of experience in prior roles and a track record of successes and involvement in business and strategy development, relationship management (internal and external), client management (both amount of and type of clients), and proven client satisfaction.

    Excellent presentation skills and comfortable speaking in front of groups. Staff- and client respected leadership qualities demonstrating proven ability to lead by example. Possesses motivational capabilities in a highly pressurized environment. Is appropriate, approachable and fair. Has strong analytical and problem solving skills including handling “hot seat” situations. Meets tight deadlines and has an exceptional eye for details.

    Strong people management skills to include the ability to mentor staff and provide direction and objectives, performance counseling and skill building. Ability to manage up and down in the organization. Knowledge of when to rely on personal judgment and when to seek advice. Good delegation skills. Strong independence, solid judgement, drive and influence. Entrepreneurial spirit, passion and intellectual curiosity. Must be collaborative, resourceful, solutions focused and results driven.

    Strong writing (AP style), editing, listening and verbal communications skills. Capable of multitasking, prioritizing and organizing. Self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment as well as individually. Effectively manages time and follow up. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and use|development of media databases.

 

The compensation for this role typically ranges between $85,000-$100,000 annually.
