Ad Optimization Manager

As an Ad Optimization Manager, your primary duties will be to oversee ad network advertising operations (audio, video & display) across mobile, web and other connected devices; maximize monetization and impression yields by working with 3rd-party partners to manage remnant inventory; optimize 3rd-party ad network partners; ensure Ad quality; pursue and maintain pertinent industry standards of most optimal ad options for yield management; work with Dev/Product leads to ensure highest efficiency of ad monetization; report on ad monetization KPIs.


  • Own the ad network, programmatic, and header bidding strategies for video, IAB, and audio units on the mobile apps and website
  • Vet, contract, manage and terminate partner relationships for the ad stack to ensure greatest maximum monetization efficiency
  • Traffic partner campaigns and tags in Ad Manager with a focus on ensuring maximum yield, testing tags for quality assurance, monitoring on-going campaigns, and troubleshooting ad issues on the apps and site
  • Daily auditing of the waterfall and remnant layers to ensure no reporting discrepancy deltas or drop in monetization
  • Set up ad units (as needed) and passback tags in Ad Manger
  • Produce daily reporting for stakeholders showing ad revenue breakout by platform and ad type with variance from actual to plan, YOY change, & contributing success and obstacle factors
  • Report and analyze inventory (sell-through), revenue (CPMs, sponsorships, production charges), and costs (custom programs) to drive monetization
  • Compile SOX compliant month-end accounting reports for all partner accounts
  • Measure and help hit or exceed team’s KPIs, which include but are not limited to: accurate inventory reporting, revenue value carried per ad net partner, maximum inventory fill and eCPM rates, quarterly forecasting of digital ad revenue
  • Proactively identify and provide actionable monetization solutions for inventory constraints, overlaps, oversupply as well as new opportunities
  • Maintain site and app ad quality
  • Aid in developing direct campaign rates cards, sales materials, ad opportunities, and trafficking direct and house campaigns


  • 3-5 years of experience ad trafficking, testing, and troubleshooting of third-party partner video & IAB campaigns and tags in Ad Manager with a focus on maximizing digital ad revenue yield
  • Experience with mobile app & web ad partner integrations and stack building
  • Strong understanding of SDKs, dynamic bidding, Yield Op groups, SSPs (i.e. AdX), mobile ad formats
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in working with multiple departments such as mobile & web dev, product, analytics, QA, and external clients
  • Teamwork and collaborative skills; ability to prioritize daily duties & projects; work independently with minimal supervision; proven ability to meet deadlines; decision-making ability; able to work in a small team at a fast, start-up pace
  • Passion for discovering and evangelizing in-app monetization opportunities
  • Highly analytical with problem-solving skills and a strong understanding of measurement, testing frameworks, attribution models
  • Technical mind and love of yield management and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable with numbers and quantitative analytics, with a strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and great project management skills
  • Operational mindset with the ability to create process and identify needs
  • Strong working knowledge of Video Ad serving and VAST/VPAID tags, IAB tags with the ability to read code and replace or build macros
  • Adept understanding of different troubleshooting tools and experience addressing video and IAB ad serving/creative issues


  • Experience with SQL, Python, or other analysis tools a strong plus.
  • Experience with other tools – Oracle Business Intelligence, other ad trafficking servers not listed above
  • Experience with audio ads
  • Understanding of server-side ad serving
  • Experience preparing month-end partner accounting reports for Finance
  • Native ad experience
