Job Title: Tax Senior
Summary:
The Tax Senior will support the Directors of Tax and Tax Managers across a broad range of tax-related matters, including compliance and tax research. This role requires strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position will primarily focus on fund taxation, with additional support for management company tax matters as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
The Tax Senior will be responsible for a variety of domestic and international tax compliance functions, including but not limited to:
Oversee and manage data collection for the preparation of multi-state partnership and corporate tax returns and estimated payments by external accounting firms
Review federal and state workpapers, tax waterfalls, and returns prepared by outside accounting firms
Prepare and review in-house tax filings
Calculate quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments
Participate in all areas of the tax provision process
Address investor-related tax inquiries and requests
Assist with defense of IRS and state tax authority audits
Support tax planning and structuring of real estate funds to meet compliance standards and investor needs
Identify and evaluate tax planning opportunities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting or a mix of public/private roles with a focus on partnership taxation
Experience with private equity funds or real estate preferred; strong partnership experience required
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Team-oriented and proactive, with a willingness to assist across functions
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
Working knowledge of ECI, UBTI, and foreign tax reporting (CFCs and PFICs)
Familiarity with tax waterfalls, REITs, and CMBS/real estate taxation is a plus
CPA designation preferred
