Position Overview
Aligned Solutions is seeking a Senior Risk Accountant for a well established company. The Senior Risk Accountant plays a key role in overseeing accounting activities related to corporate insurance and risk management programs. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and timely reconciliation of insurance-related transactions. The role supports enterprise risk initiatives and contributes to the overall financial health of construction operations through detailed analysis, forecasting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update detailed monthly accounting schedules related to insurance and risk programs
Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger based on supporting schedules
Produce and submit monthly and quarterly reports, invoices, and required documentation to insurance carriers and administrators
Review, validate, and process insurance-related invoices for payment
Prepare quarterly forecasts for contractual and insurance-related financial items
Reconcile intercompany transactions and review monthly financial statements for a third-party captive insurance entity
Serve as the primary accounting contact for the captive insurance administrator, resolving issues and providing requested support in a timely manner
Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for annual external audits
Supervise and mentor accounting staff within the risk function, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to deadlines
Collaborate with risk management, finance, and project teams to ensure alignment and transparency
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
5–7 years of progressive financial accounting experience
Prior experience within the construction industry is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of construction-related insurance programs is highly desirable, including:
Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI)
Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP)
Payment and performance bonds
General liability insurance
Experience with captive insurance companies is a plus
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate required; advanced capabilities such as macros preferred)
Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and support informed decision-making
Proven experience reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies efficiently
