The Construction Project Accountant plays a crucial role within the Project Team, overseeing all aspects of accounting activities related to the project. Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Accountants ensure accurate and timely reporting, payments, billing, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintaining comprehensive and precise records of the project's financial transactions from initiation to completion.

- Setting up projects in Procore/Sage and reviewing Owner Contracts to confirm key requirements.

- Reviewing subcontracts, purchase orders, Owner and Subcontractor change orders for accurate posting.

- Assisting the Project Manager with financial closeout and analyzing all transactions.

- Recording project finances for internal/external audits and tax purposes.

- Verify and reconcile subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors' account balances in Sage.

- Ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices from Subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, and receiving Owner funding promptly.

- Serving as a liaison between Subcontractors and the Project Team, addressing Subcontractor accounting inquiries and resolving issues with the Project Manager's help.

- Monitoring market trends and forecasting construction-related price fluctuations.

- Staying updated with developments in both the construction and accounting sectors.

 

Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.

- Familiarity with accounting software, preferably Sage.

- Understanding of the construction industry.

- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

- Keen attention to detail and high accuracy levels.

- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.

- Preferred knowledge of Procore software.

- Education: High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Certification in construction accounting is a plus.

- 3+ years of experience in private or public accounting.
