POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
This leadership role includes managing the accounting team, optimizing financial controls, and ensuring compliance with company-wide financial strategies. Additionally, this position plays a key role in talent development, fostering a high-performing team while supporting operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead all aspects of business unit accounting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly close processes and management reporting within an integrated business system.
Oversee forecasting for WIP, revenue, expenses, and financial performance indicators.
Participate in contract reviews, project setup, billing processes, and client meetings as needed.
Manage a team of approximately 30 project accountants, focusing on hiring, retention, mentorship, and performance management in collaboration with HR and operational leadership.
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives, working closely with senior leadership to execute initiatives effectively.
Assess, recommend, and implement improvements to internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
Lead the annual budget and monthly forecasting process, consolidating financial data to support strategic planning.
Work closely with treasury operations to manage cash flow, collections, and payment processes.
Identify and drive process improvements and best practices within the accounting function.
Support special financial projects and initiatives as directed by senior leadership.
Supervise and review complex journal entries and financial reports, ensuring accuracy in balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Coordinate year-end financial reporting and external audits for the business unit.
Perform additional duties as required.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong background in project accounting preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience in job cost and revenue recognition accounting within the construction industry.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and presentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Hands-on experience with integrated accounting software.
Experience with Procore construction software is a plus but not required.
