Fixed Asset Accountant

Position: Fixed Asset Accountant

Aligned Solutions is looking for a Fixed Asset Accountant at a multi-state cannabis operation. We are seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant who will be responsible for the recording, transfer, and disposition of fixed assets, tracking construction in progress, and performing monthly reconciliations of the fixed asset subsidiary ledger and construction in progress tracking schedule to the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the company’s 5-day close process.

  • Record capital asset acquisitions (new and constructed), disposals, and transfers.

  • Make CAPEX vs OPEX determinations in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Run monthly depreciation (straight-line) for all fixed assets.

  • Prepare journal entries related to fixed assets and construction in progress as needed.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of the fixed asset subsidiary ledger and construction in progress tracking schedule to the general ledger.

  • Monitor capital projects and collaborate with business partners to ensure accurate reporting of construction in progress.

  • Investigate financial variances related to fixed assets for monthly fluctuation analysis.

  • Prepare corporate accounting schedules for quarterly and annual filings and assist with internal and external auditors on fixed asset inquiries.

  • Perform ad hoc fixed asset and CIP analysis requests from management.

  • Identify opportunities to automate general ledger activities.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.

  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting (Active CPA or CPA eligible preferred).

  • Knowledge of US GAAP.

  • 3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience (including fixed asset accounting).

  • Experience with systems such as Sage Intacct and Blackline is a plus.

  • Experience with system implementation and process optimization is an asset.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Willingness to drive process improvements and efficiencies.

  • Strong team player with a strong work ethic.

  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
