We’re supporting a nationally ranked, privately held construction firm seeking a Solar Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for a high-growth, multi-billion-dollar solar EPC division.

Position Overview
The Solar Controller will oversee all financial operations for the solar business unit, leading a team of accountants and driving process improvement across systems, reporting, and forecasting. This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced and high-impact environment, ideal for someone with deep construction accounting expertise and a proactive, strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a growing accounting team including project accountants and staff-level personnel
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Monitor project performance, including revenue recognition, forecasting, and WIP reporting
Review and manage complex journal entries and financial statement preparation
Collaborate with FP&A and treasury on budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning
Support ERP system upgrades and accounting process automation efforts
Partner with project managers, HR, and asset management teams to ensure financial accuracy and provide training as needed
Lead audit readiness and coordination for annual external audits
Recommend and implement improvements to internal controls
Handle special projects and strategic initiatives from senior leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or progress toward certification highly preferred)
10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 in a leadership role
Experience in project accounting within a construction, EPC, or solar/renewable energy environment required
Public accounting background preferred
Strong command of GAAP, revenue recognition, and construction accounting practices
Proficiency with ERP systems (Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage, Oracle, or similar)
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across departments and explain financials to non-finance stakeholders
Proficient in Excel and financial reporting tools
