The Staff Accountant will directly report to the Controller and is tasked with preparing and maintaining financial records, asset tracking, account reconciliations, and other financial activities, ensuring a high level of internal and external customer service.
Initially, this role will focus on account reconciliations before expanding into various accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, handling customer invoicing, deposits, collections, credit reference inquiries, and addressing customer needs.
- Accurately prepare, enter, and code AR billings, monthly requisitions, and AP payments.
- Resolve outstanding invoice issues promptly.
- Communicate and resolve accounting problems with internal teams and external vendors tactfully.
- Conduct General Ledger reconciliations, including inter-company, assets, AR and AP, and bank account reconciliations.
- Assist Project Management staff with monthly billings preparation and cost transfers on project cost reports.
- Monitor cash flow and track receivables, providing updates to Project Management on paid accounts.
- Calculate, compile, report, and reconcile tax-related payments and GL accounts, including sales and use, excise, and other taxes.
- Process 1099 Forms as needed.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities as directed.
- Maintain document scanning, filing, and data entry accuracy.
- Provide backup support within the accounting department and cross-train internal personnel.
- Stay updated with industry knowledge through education, professional publications, and networking.
- Complete corporate training relevant to the position and department.
Additional Responsibilities may be assigned as per management's requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Staff Accounting.
- Construction Accounting experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Pivot Tables/V-Lookups.
- Knowledge of Sage, Procore, HH2 is a plus.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative team spirit.
