Bordering Southeast Florida’s Atlantic coastline, Broward County is the eighteenth most populous county in the nation and the second largest in the State of Florida. Home to over 1.9 million people, Broward County boasts more than 23 miles of pristine Atlantic coastline, and its beaches attract both the local population as well as tourists from around the world. With an average year-round temperature of 77 degrees, Broward County has a tropical climate and is a choice destination for over fourteen million visitors every year.
The Capital Program Administrator is a newly created position that will report directly to the County Administrator. This position has been developed to oversee, in collaboration with the Contract Administrator, the expansion of the existing Broward County Convention Center along with the construction of a multi-level hotel complex. Currently, the Convention Center is a 600,000 square foot facility located at the County-owned seaport known as “Port Everglades.” This project will expand the Convention Center by 525,000 square feet and include a new 800-bed hotel. The budget for the combined projects is estimated at $900 million. The Convention Center Expansion and Hotel construction is estimated to take five years to complete and will be the primary focus for the successful candidate.
Requires a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred) from an accredited college with primary course work in architecture, engineering and/or construction management; AND six (6) years of experience in capital project management, design and/or engineering involving large-scale vertical projects including hotel design and construction is required. Candidates should be a Florida Registered Architect or Engineer or as such, be registered in a state having reciprocity with Florida. Other job-related certifications are desired as well.
Salary: $88,816 to $141,750
