Council Members are elected by district and serve four-year staggered terms, with the position of Mayor rotating annually. The City Council appoints the City Manager and the City Attorney. The City of Palm Springs is a full-service city and has a FY2020-21 revised budget of $257 million with 506 allocated positions.

The City seeks proven, hard-working and strategic professionals with a background in public service leadership in similarly complex organizations to be considered for the next city manager.

Candidates should have a combination similar to 5-10 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in local government, preferably in an advanced executive management position; AND a BA/BS degree (master’s degree preferred). Experience working in a full-service city as well as experience working collaboratively with engaged neighborhood and business groups and associations desired. Experience working with the tourism industry is a plus.
