The Recreation and Community Services Department is a unique special district within the City and provides diverse recreational activities for all ages. Programs include youth and adult sports, preschool-age programs, senior programs, day camps, leisure and enrichment classes, cultural activities, aquatics, and special events. The Department operates 20 parks, a community center, senior center, and partnerships with local schools. Mackay Park, a new three-acre park, opened in 2017 and planning is underway for a new nine-acre park anticipated to debut in 2020. The Department has 13 full-time positions and an operating budget of $4.9 million.

The City is seeking an innovative leader with strong business sense as its next Director. The ideal candidate is a creative professional aware of the latest trends and best practices. The Director will embrace new opportunities, a team approach to change and problem solving, and foster an inclusive culture. Requires a combination of education and experience such as a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree desired) and five years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in administration. Also requires experience presenting to City Councils, boards, and the community. Candidates from general city management positions and the non-profit community are strongly encouraged to apply.

Hiring range: $130,524 to $162,000.
