The Broward County government was established under Charter in 1974 as a home rule government. The County has a strong Commission/Administrator form of government. The Board of Broward County Commissioners is composed of nine members, elected every two years for four-year staggered terms. Commissioners are voted to the position by their district in partisan elections. The Mayor and Vice-Mayor are Commission members annually elected by the Commission for one-year terms. The Commission appoints the County Administrator, the County Attorney, the County Auditor, and many other advisory and regulatory board members.

The Director of Capital Projects is a member of the Broward County Aviation Department’s (BCAD) Senior Team and will report to the Chief Development Officer. The position is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, coordination, and management of large scale, complex airport development projects, programs, and initiatives for the BCAD. The role includes oversight and management of approximately 20 professional staff, consultants, construction contracts, project management and directing design development, including engineering and architectural project design, development, construction administration, major maintenance, capital improvement programs, and other areas related to the airfield and landside development. The position is also responsible for the development of budgets, strategic goals, and objectives, as well as employee development and employee performance. In the absence of the Chief Development Officer, the Director may also serve as the Acting CDO.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a closely related field. Licensed as a Florida P.E. or ability to acquire licensing through reciprocity or other State allowable means. Six (6) years of experience in capital project management, design, and engineering based on the area of assignment including four (4) years of supervisory experience. Experienced with large scale construction projects that would be similar and interchangeable with typical large scale airport capital projects.

Salary: $121,738.45 - $194,294.05, DOQ
