Senior Accountant (CPA)

American Dream Search has partnered with a small and highly flexible Accounting firm that's looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team. We're looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience that has their CPA or at least has Enrolled Agent status.

Dream Hire Qualities:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, MBA preferred

  • CPA earned or in progress is a plus. Minimum Registered Tax Preparer or Enrolled Agent

  • Must be proficient in Excel and Quickbooks

  • Knowledge of Drake software is a plus

  • Previous experience in bank reconciliations, General Ledger, month end and yearly closings

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Strong ability to multitask, deadlines and budgets


About the role:

As the Senior Accountant, you will be tasked with upholding the firm’s client-centric approach and providing excellent tax service to customers. During tax season, you will see clients and perform their tax work on a hybrid schedule. When not meeting clients, work can be done remotely and with drop-offs.

Job Duties:

  • Overall management of all client accounts, including: obtaining necessary information for financial and tax return completion and handling routine client questions

  • Tax Planning Analysis & Projections

  • Communicate improvement and business growth opportunity ideas regarding clients to management

  • Researching IRS and various state notices on an independent basis

  • Preparing accurate tax work papers

  • Conduct tax work research for all situations

  • Make journal entries for monthly, quarterly and year-end adjustments to be made

  • Fixed asset maintenance

  • Generating Trial Balance, balance sheets profit and loss statements

  • Analyze current and prior year General Ledger for clients

  • Conduct analysis of income statements and balance sheets. Communicate findings to management.

  • Supervise annual closing process for clients

  • Maintain accurate information by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving any discrepancies found

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries

  • Help build organization and finance accounting infrastructure and internal controls

  • Possible representation before the IRS and CT Department of Revenue

  • Responsible for specific client internal controls


Compensation & Benefits:
