What is the job?

We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer with experience in React and/or Node.

Imagine having the freedom to make decisions that you would in a startup, but you’re backed by the resources and network of a global company. That’s exactly what you’ll find here. Our four multidisciplinary teams brainstorm, conceptualize, develop, and launch B2B and B2C products such as an external facing broker product, or internal products aimed to streamline our processes.

We are an insurance company headquartered in Texas with offices all over the world, but our digital team is here in the heart of New York City. We are seeking senior level Full Stack Engineers working on the MERN stack.

Our engineering group is divided into squads, and each squad will build out a product from start to finish. You’ll be involved in every single aspect of the process, which means you’ll get to understand the entire business rather than just a piece of it. Your team will OWN the product, and you’ll even ship product within your first two months with us.

About you:

You’re an experienced Full Stack Engineer who wants to do more than code. You’re constantly drumming up new ideas on scraps of paper, and you’re curious about the business side of things. Perhaps you’re trying to get out of a rigid corporate atmosphere but still want the financial stability of a global company, or maybe you have experience at startups that are nearing their completion.

What do you need for this role?

• Proven experience in software or web development across the full stack.

• Several years of experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework, preferably React. Angular is cool too.

• Experience with Node.js in a production environment

• Experience across the full stack, with a slight emphasis on the front end (about 60/40).

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and product owners- Prior experience in a role like this is a plus.

• A creative mind with a passion for product

What are the plusses?

• We’re an AWS environment, so prior AWS experience equals huge bonus points for us.

• We really value Computer Science degrees. If you are coming out of a bootcamp, we need to see at least three years of professional experience after it.

• You have professional experience building out B2B or B2C applications.

• Experience with RESTful API integrations
