What is the job?
We need an experienced and poised software engineering manager to come steer the ship for a team of 4 engineers in our New York City office. This is a hands on position, especially in the beginning. You will need to be Hands-On at minimum (50/50), but as the organization grows you will move more and more to the people and client management side of the job.
Your core responsibilities outside of management will include improving our ecosystem and code base. Your team will handle various projects and provide complex engineering solutions clients. This ranges from custom feature development to developing solutions that help us seamlessly integrate into our client's ecosystems.
Who are you?
First and foremost you are an experienced software engineering manager. You strive in leadership positions and are capable of directing a team in deadline driven environments. You approach management in a consultative manner. You are constantly looking for ways to improve the environment your engineers work in and help them operate at a higher level.
Second, you are a hands-on software engineering manager. You are very comfortable in the code and ideally come from a full-stack engineering background. We are heavy into Python, and experience here would be a major plus.
Lastly, this is a client facing position. You have the soft skills and are capable of driving client interaction and delivering top notch engineering solutions in high pressure situations.

What technical expertise do you bring? In-depth knowledge of the following..
• Hands-on technical management
• Full-Stack Engineering: We are open to various technical backgrounds, but Python/Django is a major plus!
• Open source technologies such as: Python, Go, and React on the front-end
• Microservices: We use Docker and Teamcity for CI/CD
• Linux
• Experience with Cython, NLP, Machine Learning, DevOps, ELK, scikit-learn and other various open source technologies are a major plus!
