Staff AI Research Engineer

We are looking for a Staff AI Engineer to join our App team. This role reports to the Director of AI Research Engineering and will be a remote position, with the option to be on-site in our Los Angeles HQ.

What You Need:

• 2+ years of experience + a relevant PhD degree, 4+ years of experience + a relevant MSc degree, or 6+ years of experience + a relevant BSc degree.

• Authorship of a leading generative vision AI technique.

• Experience with training generative AI models including but not limited to fine-tuning and debugging issues that arise during the training process.

• Comfortability coming up with changes to model architectures and understanding the implications of changes on data set requirements and the feasibility of training those changed architectures.

• Familiarity with transformers, cross-attention, and understand the application of attention in generative networks.

• Ability to read and write code in common ML frameworks.

• Experience getting ML working in cloud environments (we use GCP).

• Ability to read and analyze ML research independently and evaluate when techniques from a paper will be relevant to a practical problem.

Nice to Have:

• You have a strong publication record with papers related to generative vision.

• You have a strong publication record in generative AI and Computer Vision experience.

• You have a strong industry background doing work with Generative Vision.

What You Will Do:

• Read research to identify promising techniques

• Develop a range of models that as much as possible can leverage existing large-scale training

• Work to fine tune those models for domain specific applications

• Potentially write pre and post processing code for model inputs/outputs that is based on classical Computer Vision techniques

• You will be building cool technology and won’t be publishing papers in this role

• Your work will be supported by a Data Engineering team and a DevOps team
