Our client is a Cleveland, OH based Family Office with significant assets to invest.  Already holding a portfolio of several technology enabled product and professional services firms in marketing, healthcare and consumer products, they are aggressively seeking to grow their holdings.  

As a result, they are looking to add a fully dedicated Business Development leader to focus on deal sourcing and relationship management with Founders and CEO's of target companies. Candidates must reside in Northeast Ohio, and/or have a existing motivation for relocating here. 


  • 7-10 years of experience in a business development or senior executive role
  • Ideally been involved in buy-side diligence and negotiations and understands the deal process and participants.
  • Understands the art of the deal and strong business literacy
  • Comfortable developing relationships with business owners and professionals, including cold calling and getting involved in various trade organizations
  • Organized, methodical, detail-oriented
  • Personable, high-energy
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Presence, drive, instinct, command attention and respect
  • Strong powerpoint/excel skills
  • Strong sales skills – ability to extract information, listen, be persuasive and be assertive when called for
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, including investment memos

  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, working in a smaller organization


  • Support the firm’s investment team in all business development and marketing activities relating to originating new investment opportunities and expanding the firm’s relationship network
  • Understand the firm’s investment criteria and philosophy, portfolio companies and value-add capabilities to help communicate them across various platforms and to target companies
  • Use Pitchbook, internet and any proprietary information to research companies and identify potential new platform investments or add-ons to current portfolio
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards on deal generation activities and effectiveness
  • Support creation and prioritization of target company lists in collaboration with Investment team; facilitate direct outreach to CEOs/Owners
  • Perform background research on target companies and management teams
  • Track key relationships, target companies and active deal pipeline
  • Provide insight/analysis/research into various target industries
  • Utilize current connections and develop connections with professionals who could assist in lead generation, i.e. attorneys, accountants, bankers, etc
  • Develop and nurture relationships with potential acquisition targets
  • Potentially assist in fundraising process
  • Involvement in post-deal integration and strategy


  • Base salary commensurate with experience and market competition
