We are seeking a Generator Technician to support a well-established power generation company in the Modesto, CA area. In this field-based role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and gaseous generator systems ranging from 5kW to 5MW, along with associated electrical and paralleling equipment. This position is ideal for technicians who thrive in hands-on, independent service environments.

Position Offers

• Up to $55/hr. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply—we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

What You’ll Do

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and PM on generator systems ranging from 5–5000kW

• Diagnose and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) including bypass isolation and closed transition systems

• Troubleshoot AC and DC electrical circuits and replace components as needed

• Conduct load bank testing to verify proper operation and code compliance

• Perform generator start-ups and commissioning on new installations

• Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines

• Assist other technicians on large-scale or complex service projects

• Communicate clearly with customers, documenting service findings, recommendations, and job status

• Manage time, service documentation, and inventory while working from a home-based service model

Requirements

• Associate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferred

• 3+ years experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators and electrical power systems

• Generac certification preferred

• Ability to travel extensively with some overnight stays

• Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and digital service documentation tools

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
