We are seeking a VP of Operations to join a team at an integrated facility that processes the Gulf menhaden species into fishmeal, fish oil, and fish soluble products, based out of Empire, LA.

The Vice President of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of the organization. This person will be responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the fish meal and fish oil production facility. This includes oversight of production, quality assurance, safety, engineering maintenance, logistics and warehouse. The VP of Operations ensures efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards in product quality, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and directs all aspects of the division’s manufacturing objectives, initiatives, and improves efficiencies and performance to maximize the utilization of assets including equipment and labor.
• Define and implement company production strategies to achieve defined targets and objectives.
• Manages production planning activities to maximize the use of company resources and meet specs and schedules set by Sales & Marketing to meet Federal, State, Local, and Industry compliance.
• Keeps production at optimal efficiency while working within supply received.
• Guided by history, experience and metrics from previous seasons, plans and budgets for repairs and improvements to reduce down time and maximize utilization of performance of production process.
• Conducts regular reviews of production facility to identify strengths and weaknesses for evaluation of operational effectiveness.
• Plans future strategies and oversee the implementations
• Liaison between fishing fleet, internal departments including all plant operations to maximize utilization of plant capacity.
• Ensure that processing plant operates in accordance with the regulatory environment and within the required standards for safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering Degree strongly preferred.
• 10-15 years manufacturing leadership and site management experience (Incl. Production, Engineering, QC, HSE, Warehouse & Logistics) with proven track record of high performance.
• Experience leading a team of people in a complex manufacturing and processing environment.
• Good business acumen with ability to assess risks and opportunities and make informed decisions that contribute to the company's success.
• Ability to meet stringent quality standards and operate the business in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and Industry Standards.
• Produce product that meets customer specifications.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
