We're helping to hire an Industrial Maintenance Technician for a manufacturing company located in Birmingham, AL. The company is a leading international specialist supplier of clamping rings, lids, and seals for the packaging industry.

This role will perform all levels of Preventive Maintenance, mechanical trouble shooting, tooling changes and machine adjustment associated with stamping presses, roll forming and auxiliary equipment. Performing corrective/preventive maintenance activities and basic maintenance tasks in areas including but not limited to metal fabricating and electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical repair in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs such as find blown fuses or tripped breakers, single and three phase motor replacement and control circuit component replacement.
• Review blueprints to understand the placement of wiring or to comprehend the working of the equipment to provide the right service and repairs.
• Install or modify circuitry as necessary.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems and conveyer systems including maintenance, repair, and component replacement.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of manual and automated lubrication systems and lubrication requirements for different types of equipment and bearings.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Demonstrate an ability to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Follow prescribed safety and operational procedures and recommend changes as necessary.
• Some travel.

Skills

• Must have a good understanding of electricity, electronics, hydraulics, and computer programming.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels is essential.

Experience

• High School Diploma/GED or an Associate's degree (preferably in industrial maintenance).
• Industrial maintenance certification(s) a plus.
• Forklift certification (either already certified or willing to be certified).
• 5+ years' experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code
