Inventory & Logistics Coordinator

We're helping to hire an Inventory & Logistics Coordinator for a manufacturing company located in Birmingham, AL. The company is a leading international specialist supplier of clamping rings, lids, and seals for the packaging industry.

This role is responsible for all aspects of the company's warehouse operations, including but not limited to receiving, inventory control, selecting, loading, safety, and security. You will coordinate operations with 3rd-party logistics services and ensure customer support through accurate, on-time shipments. You are also responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and directing the activities of material handlers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inventory processing and monthly physical inventory counts to ensure product availability for production and timely customer shipments.
  • Lead shipping/receiving activity to ensure on time shipment or delivery, release carrier equipment to avoid detention, and monitor yard management for proper spotting/movement.
  • Create and manage solutions for inventory capacity problems.
  • Work in concert with the organization’s Production centers for inter-company transfers.
  • Responsible for warehouse/facility management ensuring products are stored in correct location and in good order.
  • Establish targets, objectives, and goals throughout the warehouse operations.
  • Create and maintain an environment of continual improvement that supports company objectives.
  • Ensure operational objectives and processes are in place and being followed.

Skills

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels are essential.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Proficient in standard logistics software and excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.

Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in logistics or business administration or a related degree is preferred.
  • Forklift certification (either already certified or willing to be certified).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in logistics management.
  • Project management experience preferred.
