BCC Project Manager / Estimator

Brannan Construction Company is looking for a Project Manager / Estimator to join our growing division.

To be successful in this role, you'll need experience in Heavy Civil Construction: Mainline Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain.

Job Description:

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring high quality work on all jobs, communicating goals and directions effectively to team members, job superintendents, and division managers. Pro-actively identify problem areas on jobs, overcome obstacles, and provide quality control. This position is also responsible for managing subcontractor performance, job budgets, change orders, cost codes, cost reporting, purchase orders, and must have a full understanding of job design.

Project Managers: Manage the success of the job from pre-planning meetings all the way to job close out. Project Managers are in direct contact with Field Superintendents providing support to ensure a successful completion of each job. Preparing and working through any change orders. PM's are also responsible for various accounting aspects of our construction jobs. These tasks include monthly invoicing, assisting with receivables collection, understanding owner's contract provisions, approving invoices, and job profitability analysis.

Estimators: Must demonstrate a working knowledge of means and methods of open cut/tunnel and bore construction; as well as identify advantages, disadvantages, problem areas, costs, and profitability of projects during the bidding process. Prepare and ensure complete and accurate bid sheets are ready before each bid day, closing bids on bid day, having thorough understanding of plans and specifications, and preparing RFI's during bid process. Soliciting subcontractor quotes is also required. This involves maintaining good faith documentation, receiving a minimum of three quotes for subcontract work, evaluation of quotes, and conducting pre-job planning meetings with appropriate colleagues.

  • Qualifications:
    5+ years experience in heavy civil construction, specific to Underground Wet Utilities - Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain.
  • Thorough understanding of estimating and bidding process of jobs ranging from $50K to $5M.
  • Must be able to multi-task in order to manage existing and new projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to be self-motivating, dependable, a team player, and perform duties with little supervision.
  • Strong computer skills required. Experience with HCSS, Heavy Bid, Bid to Win, and Viewpoint are desired.
  • Must have valid Driver's License
