Summary of Job:

The Director of Analytics & Data Science works closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership and other business owners across the company to drive change in their area of responsibility. This includes creating hypotheses, directing experiments and analyses to validate those hypotheses, and working with cross-functional teams to turn those findings into decisions and product changes. The Director will work directly with VP and C-level executives across the company and will have the opportunity to build out a team to help scale their impact.

Key focuses:

  • Serve as a trusted analytics partner to business stakeholders
  • Define and champion initiatives that directly impact top-and bottom-line growth
  • Drive product development decisions and priorities using analytical frameworks and a data-first approach
  • Mobilize cross-functional teams to execute on strategic and operational insights
  • Build processes and institutional knowledge to improve decision-making and execution capability
  • Inspire, mentor, and grow analysts, data scientists, and managers on the Analytics and Data Science team
  • Sells ideas effectively both down and up
  • Champions strategic ideas that have a material impact on company results
  • Proven ability to up-level talent with the organization
  • Able to direct multiple projects at once
  • Influences and/or sets the long-term vision, strategy, and results of corporate consequence
  • The Director will manage managers

Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Economics, Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative fields (or extensive work experience in quantitative roles)
  • 6+ years of experience in analytically-driven roles (ie, Analytics, Strategic Finance, etc.). 4+ years of management experience in an analytically-driven function
  • Experience in SQL
  • MS or PhD in a quantitative field is not required but is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of statistics and experience with statistical programming in R or Python is a major plus
  • Experience working in a cross-functional product development environment is a strong plus
