Accounting Systems & Processes Analyst

We are seeking an Accounting Systems & Processes Analyst to join the team of a growing Asset Management firm here in Chicago! Key responsibilities include the set up and ongoing maintenance of investment vehicles / capital accounts; monthly closes and ongoing maintenance of each fund’s general ledger; production of quarterly financial and investor reporting; support of annual external audits of approximately 30 financial statements; forecasting fund performance; and producing management and regulatory reporting. To accomplish these responsibilities, this role will work cross-functionally throughout the organization and have exposure to Operations, Treasury, Tax, Investor Communications, Technology Solutions, Business Development, Compliance and Valuation Teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supporting the designing, developing implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems (Workday and Adaptive) as well as understanding and support any and all subsystems such as Data Warehouse, Client Accounting Tracking System, SharePoint, Entity Master, Workiva, PowerBI, WSO and Everest to be responsive to both internal and external constituencies
  • Maintain, test, and develop these systems and associated processes
  • Work closely with other team members on implementing efficient and effective processes for reporting on the fast-growing private funds and BDC business – need to maintain strong control while driving efficiency, standardization and automation in a collaborative manner
  • Manage consistent report development and maintenance − Manipulation and analysis of large amounts of data to produce financial, accounting, reporting deliverables and analysis
  • Assist in the accounting and reporting, ensuring processes and output are consistent with US GAAP and specific partnership agreements − Build and maintain D-base of financial metrics and data
  • Utilize technological / analytical skills to develop new reporting analysis and automating replace with ‘automate’ current reports
  • Help design and implement efficient processes for producing “controllership” and ‘management’ reporting (such as dashboard reporting)
  • Use queries, D-base exports and data mining to access data from multiple systems Page 3 of 5
  • Provide timely and effective management reporting, investor reporting, and produce accurate regulatory & compliance reporting while driving operational efficiencies through process improvements & automation
  • Maintain an exceptional focus on data, process, and attention to detail
  • Train new users as part of the Workday / Adaptive onboarding process
  • Play a significant role in executing team objectives while being exposed to the core processes and deliverables of a fast-paced team, serving a growing business
  • Assist in various ad-hoc projects and requests – both within the Accounting System and Processes and Projects Team and across the broader Fund Accounting team as well as other function areas in meeting regular and periodic reporting requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (accounting or finance and systems proficiency preferred)
  • 3 to 5 years of meaningful, relevant experience in similar business is strongly desired (private equity / leveraged finance / hedge fund or similar)
  • Prior experience manipulating large amounts of data − Navigate and understand interdependencies of multiple systems and subsystems
  • Desire and aptitude to apply and infer financial meaning and understanding
  • High level of intellectual curiosity with a desire to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex business challenges
  • Proactive self-starter with a positive can-do and ‘no job too small’ attitude
  • Strong accounting, financial and system analysis skills and instincts
  • High skill level in Excel required
  • Understanding of Financial Company Balance Sheets, Income Statements and the consolidation of entities − Understanding of financial metrics (leverage calculations, return calculations, IRR and performance metrics)
  • Proficiency in Workday, Adaptive, Wall Street Office, Data-Warehouse applications and similar packages is a strong plus
  • Strong reputation and examples of exceptional project management and team orientation
  • Comfortable working in a fluid environment under the direction of various managers depending on the task at hand
  • Comfortable with a steep learning curve and seeking assistance from a strong and committed peer group
  • Capacity to be a deep thinker – need to operationalize complex partnership agreements and account for investments, incentive fee arrangements and partner allocations

  • Ability to learn and excel at day-to-day responsibilities and contribute to driving process improvement, standardization and automation
