Position Responsibilities
The Financial Reporting Accountant is an important role within the Fund Accounting Department as they seek to support the financial reporting demands of a growing Firm, build a best-in-class finance organization and drive operational excellence. This role’s primary responsibility is to work with leadership on organizing, streamlining, executing and optimizing GAAP financial reporting processes.
− Work closely with team leadership to establish processes and the annual calendar associated with Quarterly and Year End financial statement preparation and issuance
− Coordinate closely with external auditors on efficient and accelerated financial statement preparation and issuance
− Help drive consistency in Private Funds GAAP reporting (including verbiage, classification and mapping, look and feel as well as definitions and disclosures)
− Continue to streamline and operationalize key audit and financial reporting processes
− Assist in the monitoring, assessing and implementation of new technical accounting guidelines
− Coordinate with the BDC Fund Accounting Team on reporting and disclosure consistency when appropriate
− Bring a process improvement eye and mindset to our current practices
− Coordinate with the Investor Communications (“IC”) Team on the distribution of quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements to investors
− Coordinate with Treasury on the timely completion and distribution of financial reporting materials associated with lender compliance
− Take a controls-based audit approach to work
Qualifications & Experience:
− Bachelor’s degree with a relevant major (accounting or finance preferred)
− At least 2 years of relevant experience in similar business is strongly desired (private equity / leveraged finance / hedge fund or similar)
− Passion for GAAP financial reporting and the external audit process
− Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint (expert level in Excel preferred)
− Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational and communication skills
− Proactive self-starter with a positive can-do and ‘no job too small’ attitude
− High level of intellectual curiosity with a desire to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex business obstacles
− Ability to take initiative and work independently while demonstrating strong teamwork
− Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work under pressure and meet deadlines
− Comfortable with a steep learning curve and seeking assistance from a supportive peer group
− Proficiency in Workday, Adaptive, Wall Street Office, Data-Warehouse and similar packages is a plus
