As the Controller, you are responsible for completing and managing all accounting, financial reporting, bookkeeping, and finance functions necessary to maintain the overall integrity of the financial records and portfolio of investments. Ongoing responsibilities include management of accounting related issues, month-end procedures, compiling tax information, bookkeeping and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:
- Manage two individuals; a staff accountant and bookkeeper plus work in lockstep with investment team and Family Office Principals
- Assist with the day-to-day oversight for key vendor relationships to ensure a high level of service (Banks, Custodians, Payroll & Tax service providers)
- Accounts Payable: oversee payment of approved invoices and maintain document and vendor correspondence files
- Bookkeeping: manage all aspects of the bookkeeping function for all entities and principals – the office utilizes QuickBooks Enterprise edition
- Collaborate with consultants, and brokers and tax professionals in the preparation of tax filings for partnerships, individuals, and trusts
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supplementary reports; investigate variances and trends
- Monitor and prepare any required quarterly or annual bank compliance support
- Put in place processes and reports / dashboards that result in investment team and stakeholders receiving timely information
- Property Accounting: oversee monthly accounting for real estate investments we own directly and create regular reports for use by investment team
- Perform special projects as directed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
5 – 7+ years of accounting experience - Experience working in a closely held private company is highly desired
- Expertise with common technical accounting skills including, but not limited to: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger analysis, accrual basis, cash basis, operating expenditures, and capital expenditures
- Ability to read, analyze, articulate and compile financial reports used for business correspondence and management decision making
- Self-motivated; excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and in QuickBooks
- A demonstrated ability to effectively manage external service providers, including tax firms, banks, and key vendors
