Fire Protection Engineer or Senior Fire Protection Engineer — Building Systems & Fire/Life Safety Design
Location: San Jose, CA (On-Site Only)
Industry: Building Systems Engineering
Employment Type: Full-time
Design systems that safeguard people, property, and performance.
A full-service engineering firm is hiring mid- and senior-level Fire Protection Engineers to lead fire/life safety system design, code compliance, and consulting services across a wide range of building types. With in-house disciplines spanning Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Process Piping, and Commissioning, the team delivers integrated MEP solutions — not siloed designs.
These are fully on-site roles in San Jose, ideal for engineers who want project variety, hands-on collaboration, and long-term growth opportunities. Depending on experience, you’ll either lead smaller projects independently or drive larger, complex scopes with broader responsibility.
This firm actively supports growth at every level — mentorship, leadership development, and advancement opportunities are built into the culture.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design and develop fire protection systems including hazard analysis, NFPA and building code compliance, system layout, equipment selection, and construction documents.
Coordinate closely with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
Manage fire protection project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality standards — independently or with junior team support.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing through training and “lunch-and-learn” sessions.
Engage with clients, project teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Stay current on codes, life safety standards, and industry trends; for senior engineers, participate in business development and client relationship management.
WHAT YOU BRING
5–10+ years of fire protection engineering experience in a consulting environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering (or a related discipline).
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred (required for senior-level).
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and/or manage full fire protection scopes.
Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes, building codes, fire alarm systems, and fire/life safety systems.
Clear, collaborative communication style with the ability to work hands-on with multidisciplinary partners.
WHY THIS ROLE
Contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects — not limited to one market or system type.
Work in a culture where collaboration, mentorship, and technical excellence are genuinely supported.
Take on increasing responsibility with clear leadership pathways.
Join a team where your voice matters and your work has visible impact.
Important: This is a fully on-site role based in San Jose. Remote or hybrid options are not available.
