About the Position:

The firm is seeking a Director of Information Technology to provide the vision and leadership necessary to insure that the organization makes appropriate and efficient use of information systems technology to maximize work productivity as well as effectively serve its clients and markets. The incumbent will oversee and direct the Information Technology group, develop policy initiatives and implement system design changes as necessary to maintain a strong position in a dynamic information technology environment and a constantly changing and intensely competitive environmental consulting marketplace.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers and consultants.
  • Supervise IT department staff to implement the IT Plan and ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the department’s services throughout the Company.
  • Create and execute the Corporate IT plan for the Company’s merger and acquisition activity.
  • Plan, budget, and manage the purchase, implementation, and support of all computer resources. Make the in-house vs. outsourcing decisions with respect to the provision of IT equipment, skills, and services.
  • Plan and manage all IT processes relating to the relocation of physical offices.
  • Interact directly with clients and/or be actively involved with applications/systems development in project-specific areas.
  • Participate in regular company management meetings as well as strategic and business planning as appropriate.
  • Proactively coordinate with all THE FIRM business group directors, regional directors and other operating unit managers to determine opportunities and implement strategies for enhancing THE FIRM’s effective use of existing and potential computer-dependent functions.
  • Analyze, evaluate and improve applications development and IT infrastructure and architecture.
  • Recommend an integrated set of information system management plans and procedures for all THE FIRM offices and remote users. The management plans shall include a system for promptly and efficiently responding to all end-user inquiries and requests concerning their individual computer resources, procedures for effective daily backup and documentation of backup and contingency procedures for potential system upset.
  • Ensure that all information system procedures, hardware and software set-up, use instructions and network configurations are regularly and consistently documented and made easily accessible to end-users and technical managers.
  • Establish and effectively communicate to all staff standards for all computer resource networks, individual workstations, laptops and mobile devices.
  • Interact with internal staff to ensure continuous “customer” satisfaction as well as with external clients on project specific assignments.
  • Ensure effective training for all IT users to maximize their productive use of computer resources and their ability to serve THE FIRM’s clients in a responsive and cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare and update annual Information Technology Plan as a component of the Companywide Business Plan.
  • Work closely with the CFO on budget and purchasing matters.
  • Stay current with the latest technology trends and provide insight into the trends for non-technical executive staff.
  • Mentor IT staff to increase the technical knowledge of the department.
