Deputy Program Director

We are actively seeking a creative, highly talented Deputy Program Director for immediate employment in the San Francisco South Bay area. The Deputy Program Director serves as the client’s point-of-contact on a 5 year, $50+ million engineering support contract. The Deputy Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of 20+ on-site architecture, engineering and construction support staff and as-needed engineering support from off-site corporate A/E staff.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Oversee and lead numerous departments to include: accounting, program controls, contracts, construction management, architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, project controls and administration.

  • Attend and present at numerous client and stakeholder meetings and other events.

  • Manage and oversee cost-effective delivery of services within the budgets established for all tasks on program.

  • Responsible for review of contracts, task orders, supervision of labor and subcontractors; planning and scheduling of work, review of invoices, and payments.

  • Develop and implement operations and strategies that improve execution and provide additional value to the Client in a cost effective manner.

  • Develops policies and procedures relating to customers specific programs.

  • Utilizes financial systems to review actual versus estimated cost and to provide timely and accurate financial data.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop/implement strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.

  • Overall responsibility for customer satisfaction on our performance. Regularly meets with customers to ensure that we are providing quality installations and meeting their individual needs. Conducts follow-up reviews of solutions to verify that desired objectives were accomplished effectively and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • California registered Professional Engineer

  • 10+ years progressive experience working on and leading large, facilities and infrastructure design and construction programs including 5 years supervisory experience managing contracts of similar size ($50 million, 5 year) and scope (design and construction support services) for research, development and testing facilities, utilities infrastructure and one-off specialized use facilities.

  • Familiar with all aspects of design and construction programs including technical architecture and engineering support, planning, A/E design, permitting and inspection, configuration management, QA/QC surveillance monitoring, water and energy conservation, space utilization assessment, real property management, and contract administration.

  • Experience on Federal Government projects including Firm Fixed Price (FFP) A/E contracts & Cost-Plus Fixed Fee task orders.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Excellent management skills related to Project Management.

  • Proficient in contracts, project accounting, safety, risk and quality management programs.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong work ethic with the "team player" mindset .

  • Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model and to guide others within the organization.

  • Logically breaks down problems and looks for solutions.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on high-tech commercial projects.

  • Development and implementation of small business plans.
