Design high-performance HVAC systems in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
A full-service engineering firm is hiring experienced HVAC Engineers to lead mechanical system design and coordination efforts across a wide range of building types — from commercial and high-tech campuses to labs, cleanrooms, and institutional facilities. With in-house expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, process piping, and commissioning, the firm offers true integration and hands-on collaboration across disciplines.
These are fully on-site roles based in San Jose, ideal for engineers who want meaningful technical ownership, visibility, and long-term career growth. Depending on your experience, you may lead full mechanical scopes, manage small teams, or support cross-functional delivery of larger projects.
What you’ll do:
Design and develop HVAC systems, including equipment layout, ductwork, and load calculations
Perform energy analyses and prepare construction documents and specifications
Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams for seamless integration
Manage project schedules, deliverables, and quality benchmarks
Lead or support small project teams; assign tasks and monitor design progress
Participate in client meetings and internal knowledge-sharing sessions (e.g., “lunch-and-learns”)
Support professional licensure goals and stay current on code updates and design best practices
What you bring:
5–10+ years of HVAC engineering experience in consulting or design-build environments
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
PE license preferred (required for senior-level roles)
Experience managing small-to-medium HVAC project scopes
Strong grasp of building codes, energy efficiency strategies, and practical system design
Revit and AutoCAD proficiency; NCEES profile strongly encouraged
Why this role:
Collaborate in a firm that values mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and design excellence
Work on a wide range of projects — not stuck in one building type or client sector
Gain real leadership opportunities within a supportive, mid-sized team
Competitive salary with potential for commissions based on performance
Play a visible role in a firm that invests in its people
