Project Accountant / Senior Project Accountant
Architecture, Engineering & Construction (Ongoing Search)
San Francisco Bay Area | Full-time | Hybrid or In-office (role dependent)

Building Talent partners with architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms across California on ongoing and upcoming Project Accountant and Senior Project Accountant needs. This posting reflects roles we regularly support as firms grow and teams expand.

We’re connecting with Project Accountants who have direct AEC experience and are comfortable managing the financial side of projects from setup through closeout. Depending on the firm and role level, responsibilities may range from hands-on project accounting to more senior ownership of project financials.

Core responsibilities

• Project setup, budgets, fee tracking, and financial reporting
• Billing, A/R, and collections
• Vendor and subconsultant invoicing
• Contract and change-order support
• Ongoing coordination with Project Managers and firm leadership

Required / preferred software experience

• Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint (strongly preferred for architecture and engineering environments)
• Ajera or similar A/E project accounting systems
• Sage 300 CRE / Sage Timberline, Viewpoint Vista or Spectrum, CMiC (commonly used in construction environments)
• Procore or similar project financial management tools
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, formulas; Power Query or VBA a plus)

Backgrounds that tend to align well

• Project accounting experience within architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) environments
• Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects
• Detail-driven, organized, and comfortable partnering closely with PMs and operations teams

Compensation varies by firm, role level, and location, typically ranging from $75K–$135K, depending on experience.
