POSITION: Property Liability Adjuster

FULLTIME

LOCATION: Oakland, CA

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (Hybrid)

PAY RANGE: $90-95K/yr.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking a highly experienced Property Liability Adjuster for a hybrid role supporting our client in Oakland. This position involves handling property and liability claims within company's service area, which covers Alameda and Contra Costa counties, extending from Crockett in the north, southward to San Lorenzo, eastward from San Francisco Bay to Walnut Creek, and south through the San Ramon Valley.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Manage and adjust property and liability claims for EBMUD, focusing primarily on water damage claims involving personal and real property.

2. Handle a small number of auto losses and business interruption/loss of income claims.

3. Conduct field inspections as needed, with approximately 10-15% of time spent on field work.

4. Utilize the latest version of Xactimate for property damage estimating.

5. Manage assigned claims or tasks given directly by EBMUD, with no independent adjuster assignments.

6. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

7. Prepare reports and present claims in roundtable settings or claim reviews as needed.

8. Develop strategies for claims resolution with clear and focused file notes.

9. Identify and effectively manage vendors to achieve satisfactory results on both expense and indemnity costs

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. 7+ years of experience in the P&C industry, with public entity experience a plus.
  2. 5+ years of experience handling complex claims.
  3. Strong property claims experience, with homeowners experience acceptable.
  4. Preferred experience with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
  5. College degree preferred.
  6. Insurance designation preferred.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Proficiency in Xactimate, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
  9. Knowledge of claims processes and procedures, as well as the overall insurance industry.

Additional Information

  1. Claim assignments: 3-5 claims per week based on historical data.
  2. Claim management systems: Company uses MicroNich and FHE for claims management.
  3. Mileage reimbursement: Available from the office to inspection sites.
  4. Training: Onsite training at office location
Ability to read and understand legal documents

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Use of computers and technology
