Job Summary:
As the Nurse Manager, you will oversee 24-hour departments providing patient care services. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that your staff delivers high-quality, accessible, cost-effective, and patient-focused care across the continuum. You will be responsible for maintaining clinical standards of care and practice, budgeting resources, and leading the selection and development of your team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the operations of 24-hour departments, potentially spanning multiple locations. Ensure that your team, including Assistants and staff, adheres to the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Establish, implement, and maintain patient care and service standards to meet the expectations of both members and internal clients.
- Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and enhance patient care outcomes across the continuum of care.
- Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring optimal utilization of human and material resources. Continuously monitor financial performance and implement strategies to reduce costs while enhancing the quality of care and services provided.
- Determine the appropriate staffing mix for the department and develop processes for screening, interviewing, hiring, training, and maintaining the competency of all department staff. Foster ongoing staff development initiatives.
- Address and resolve human resource, employee, department safety, and risk management issues.
- Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that align with the organization's goals and business objectives, ensuring their successful implementation.
- Oversee and establish standards of care and practice, while also directing fiscal management and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical nursing experience related to the clinical area of specialization required by the department, with at least 4 years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Must have recent OR experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Masters Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at the time of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
