As a Credentialing Specialist, you will work under supervision to initiate and oversee the credentialing process, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Program, and Regional requirements. You will be responsible for thoroughly and timely verifying physicians' credentials in accordance with regional Credentialing Policies and Procedures. Acting as a liaison between medical centers, medical offices, and regional offices, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date physician data. (This is an in-office position)
Essential Functions:
- Ensure consistent documentation and complete verification of physicians' credentials. Provide required documentation to appropriate physicians, managers, and committees at the practice sites.
- Process all credentials applications and applications for employment with Client.
- Conduct extensive investigations into applicants' backgrounds, education, and experience using online systems, written correspondence, telephone inquiries, and printed reference guides and reports.
- Collaborate with practice site Credentials and Privileges Coordinators to ensure an integrated, timely, and consistent credentialing process.
- Partner with professional physician recruiters to monitor recruitment status and ensure timely credentialing prior to employment.
- Develop and maintain a computerized database of physician data for use in the credentialing and appointment process. Prepare reports as requested.
- Maintain files of current Scopes of Practice for all specialties, Professional Staff by-laws for all medical centers, and stay up to date with Federal, State, Program, and Regional requirements.
- Implement efficient and effective systems for transmitting credentials information to practice sites to facilitate timely approval and professional staff appointments.
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulatory requirements and implement new procedures as necessary to remain in compliance.
- Share and implement best practices with practice site Credentials and Privileges Coordinators whenever feasible to improve processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with credentialing in a hospital setting required.
- Associate's degree required, or 2 years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
