Quarry Manager (mine manager)

Santa Maria, CA

A rock and minerals company is looking for a manager for their complex quarry.

 

Key MUST HAVE items:

• At least 4 year degree in geology or mining engineering, geotechnical engineering
• Experience managing geology plus at least some personnel in a mine or quarry
• Understanding that this is a hands-on position working in the operation

 

The job:

• Manage/Supervise all aspects of a 5 day/week quarrying/mining operation:
• Directly manage a mining engineer and mining supervisor and multiple hourly personnel
• In charge of all geologic ore definition
• Definition of waste handling, tailings, runoff, etc, and manage planning and handling activities.
• Direct and manage daily and short-range operations:
  • Plan and direct different horizons to mine
  • Plan stockpiles
  • Surveying and plotting
  • Feed appropriate blends and material to primary crushing and convey to plant
• Involved with all CapEx, directly managing smaller and working with corporate on larger.
• Responsible for ensuring personnel in the quarry are probably trained in MSHA and additional company safety systems
• Work with mapping quarry activities by chemistry and characteristics
• Cooperate with other operations in the company in the western U.S. and Mexico

Required/preferred

• Degree in geology, geotechnical, geological or mining engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in an appropriate quarrying-type operation with processing; prefer at least 3 in supervising ops
• Willing and able to work safely and effectively in a in outdoors in an active quarrying operation
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000, bonus, relocation assistance available.
