Director of Public Sector Marketing

Ceres Talent (Permanent) - Remote: NYC or DC area preferred

We are looking for the Director of Public Sector Marketing for a B2B and B2G cybersecurity company. This role will be responsible for driving awareness and demand generation strategies targeted to Federal and SLED buyers and channel partners. In this cross-functional role, you will partner closely with Public Sector Sales, BDRs, and Government Affairs. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and results-oriented individual to work on a global level and make a material impact.

This role is fully remote. New York City or Washington, DC area candidates are preferred. 

 What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, implement, and own an annual and quarterly marketing plan to support Public Sector revenue targets and strategic focus areas.
  • Work closely with the VP of Public Sector Sales and VP of Government Affairs to develop demand generation and pipeline for Public Sector customers (with a particular focus on the state, local, and higher education markets).
  • Manage marketing-generated opportunities and their progression/closing with sales.
  • Assist in the development of talk tracks, speaking engagements, PR opportunities, and overall thought leadership for the Public Sector.
  • Command Public Sector-related market opportunities and drive major projects/initiatives that the company should approach as revenue-generating.
  • Own content for publication in social media and industry media outlets.
  • Negotiate and manage Public Sector marketing vendors.
  • Work with corporate marketing teams (product marketing, channel, brand, public relations, operations) to tailor programs as needed to align with Public Sector market requirements.
  • Work with channel marketing and sales teams to enable, market to, through, and with appropriate partners in the region.
  • Evaluate and prioritize content, program, event, and other requests from the Public Sector business.
  • Develop, track and own appropriate marketing metrics for Public Sector campaigns.

 The Quals You’ll Need:

  • 10+ years of marketing experience with high-tech, B2B enterprise software.
  • 5+ years of experience marketing to Federal and SLED segments.
  • Proven knowledge of the Federal Government / Public Sector structure and a comprehensive understanding of the technology buying process.
  • Experience working with channel marketing and partners.
  • All-around marketing player - familiar with components required to build integrated marketing programs.
  • Player-coach attitude - must be enthusiastic about developing the plan, and doing the work
  • Experience successfully managing integrated marketing campaigns to generate new business
  • Capability to produce data-driven ROI results that are continuously tested to refine tactics used in pursuit of lead generation and revenue growth.
  • Proven experience engaging with multiple audiences, including but not limited to, technical and business audiences.
  • A strong storyteller with experience crafting clear and compelling messaging and developing strong content to increase engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree required in marketing, business administration, or related field.

Bonus Points:

  • Cybersecurity industry experience.
