The Process Engineer will be responsible for scoping and setting a design basis, process flow diagram (PFD) and material balance development, piping, and instrumentation diagram development (P&IDs), specifying process mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and assisting discipline leads in successful implementation of the process design. They will have to be comfortable with interpreting plant data, designing (with assumptions stated) on limited information, utilizing strong engineering judgement to ensure the process is safe and will meet the needs of the business.
This individual will utilize and develop internal tools as well as process engineering software such as (but not limited to) Aspen Plus, HYSYS, EDR, AFT Fathom, Arrow, or HTRI in order to complete required scope of work. They will have a familiarity with engineering practices, vendor requirements, and discipline engineering needs across multiple process industries.
An entrepreneurial mindset will help the process engineer to succeed at Clayco. While it is not required, professional licensure or passing of the fundamentals of engineering exam is preferred. Also preferred is operations, start-up, and construction experience. Graduate degree chemical engineering candidates may supplement up to 1 year of professional design experience
