Senior Systems Engineer – Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, Automation
Location: Remote (Washington, DC area preferred, but not required)
About the Role:
We're seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with strong hands-on Linux skills and expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform. This role emphasizes practical, keyboard-level systems engineering, cloud infrastructure management, and automation.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud environments using AWS.
Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters.
Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible and Terraform.
Monitor system performance, ensure high availability, and resolve issues proactively.
Collaborate closely within Agile teams to ensure efficient, automated, and secure systems operations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 8-10 years of hands-on Linux system administration and engineering experience.
Expertise in deploying and managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, EBS).
Proven experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
Hands-on proficiency with infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and JIRA.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
Experience with containerization technologies beyond Kubernetes (Docker, OpenShift).
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python).
Relevant professional certifications (AWS, Linux Foundation, Kubernetes).
Security and Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance required
