Medical Billing Specialist for our Substance Use Disorder Facility ( SUD )
Compensation: $90,000 - $ 120,000 Annual Salary

Position Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist for our Substance Use Disorder Facility ( SUD ) in Lakewood, New Jersey. This is a full-time, in-person position, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.

Qualifications of the Medical Billing Specialist:

  • 5+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in behavioral health or Substance Use Disorder ( SUD ) treatment.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing for behavioral health and substance use treatment services.

  • Experience with Electronic Health Records ( EHR ) and billing software such as Kareo, NextGen, or Availity.

  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding for behavioral health and Substance Use Disorder ( SUD ) services.

  • Understanding of revenue cycle management ( RCM ), including claim submission, denials, and appeals.

  • Proficiency in insurance verification, prior authorizations, and reimbursement processes for mental health and substance abuse services.

Responsibilities of the Medical Billing Specialist:

  • Prepare and submit accurate claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance companies for behavioral health and Substance Use Disorder ( SUD ) services.

  • Review and verify patient information, insurance eligibility, and coverage details before billing.

  • Ensure all claims include correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes specific to behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.

  • Monitor claims status, follow up on denials, rejections, and unpaid claims, and initiate appeals when necessary.

  • Track accounts receivable ( AR) and ensure timely collection of payments.

  • Work closely with insurance providers and third-party payers to resolve billing discrepancies.
