The Patient Registration Clerk registers and pre-registers patients for hospital and clinic services. S/he obtains demographic, financial, pre-certification or authorization information.
*** This position is Part Time from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday. ***
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide prompt and accurate service to promote high standards and quality
- Collect deductibles, co-insurance and non-covered charges as outlined by policy
- Answer incoming calls and visits regarding patient accounts; explains financial policies to patients
- Research account issues; correct and/or initiate correction of errors
- Initiate outgoing telephone contact with patients for payments and payment arrangements
- Assist registration and medical records as necessary
- Prepare standard registration/admission forms for patients or transfer related tasks
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
The Patient Registration Clerk assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
- Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
- Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech, preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- H.S. Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience in field, required
- 1 year experience in medical scheduling or medical office, preferred
